The New Jersey Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives promotes the health and well-being of women and newborns within their families and communities, through the development and support of the profession of midwifery as practiced by Certified Nurse-Midwives(CNMs) and Certified Midwives (CMs)

Identify and prioritize legislative, advocacy and public policy issues and opportunities that relate to midwifery and maternal health at the state level, and to support identification and implementation of ACNM’s advocacy agenda.

Student Liaison Committee
Serve as an active channel of communication between midwifery students and the Affiliate and vice versa; promote student participation in affiliate activities.
Promote the profession of midwifery by increasing visibility of CNMs and CMs in New Jersey and facilitating timely communication about events and issues to members and consumers, utilizing a variety of media.
This committee is a sub-division of the Social Media Committee. Its goal is to augment and work with the Social Media Committee to publicize midwifery (CNM/CMs) in New Jersey, increase knowledge of midwifery and midwifery model of care.
Promote diversity, equity and inclusion in ACNM and midwifery; increase the number of midwives from underrepresented groups in all roles and at all levels; improve the capacity of ACNM members to work effectively across cultures; and foster accountability, ongoing learning and a sustained culture of inclusion within ACNM. Included in this committee is the Midwives of Color Caucus which provides support for midwives and students who self-identify as people of color, fosters relationships with organizations representing health professionals of color in New Jersey, and supports efforts to encourage more people of color to enter the profession of midwifery.
